Vaporizers and e-cigarettes will continue to be omnipresent companions in the future. What exactly should we make of CBD liquids for e-cigarettes, do they work medicinally? And will there soon be THC-containing e-liquids too? Fundamentally, it depends on the quality and exact formulation of CBD liquids whether this cannabidiol is well absorbed.

In a vaporizer, water or plant oil would be very disruptive and plant oil even harmful. Here, plant parts or their extracts are simply brought to a temperature until the active ingredients vaporize. With vaporizers, the temperature can often be adjusted to vaporize different active compounds with different boiling points. With e-cigarettes, many models also allow output dosing, though it’s less about temperature.
Just like with vaporizers, there’s also a very large selection of different models and accessories for e-cigarettes. Depending on personal preferences, a different model is right for everyone.
What Should You Look for When Buying CBD Liquids?
Just like with other products, CBD liquids should always be purchased from a retailer you can trust. The CBD liquid should also come from a manufacturer who can likewise be trusted. Manufacturers who produce in the EU for the European market will set different standards due to many regulations and controls than a Chinese vendor. CBD Smart Liquid from Zamnesia with 2.5 ml and 200 mg CBD, SensiSeeds CBD E-Liquid with 10 ml and 50 mg CBD, or „Gold“ with 5% CBD from Hemp Liquid with 10 ml and 500 mg CBD would be among other CBD liquid options that can be ordered online.
Some information is misleading because product descriptions are poorly translated. The Sensi Seeds CBD Liquid contains a CBD extract with an active ingredient content of 99.9%. In the CBD liquid, however, this cannabidiol content ultimately only reaches 0.5%. „Tropic Sun“ from Hemp Liquid is listed with „maximum 5% CBD,“ but this is guaranteed to fall far short.
You can already see from the price that it’s not highly dosed, and trading CBD products with over 5% is subject to certain rules that present a high hurdle.
The CBD Smart Liquid contains only 2.5 ml but overall four times more CBD than the SensiSeeds CBD E-Liquid with 10 ml and is therefore more expensive. When buying, you should always pay close attention to how much CBD you’re getting for your money.
Furthermore, cannabinoids can be manufactured in laboratories or extracted from plants. Possibly CBD liquids whose cannabidiol actually grew in the field are better. Everyone can try this for themselves. If it doesn’t say on the CBD liquid that it was extracted from real hemp, it’s guaranteed to be from a laboratory.
Cannabidiol can occur in different forms as the inactive precursor CBDA and as the active CBD. Through decarboxylation, CBDA is converted to CBD thanks to sufficiently long heat exposure. E-cigarettes don’t heat CBD liquid as strongly or for as long. Presumably a CBD liquid whose CBDA was already converted to CBD through decarboxylation during production would be the clearly better choice. Otherwise, of 100 mg CBD, perhaps less than half would really be contained in an active compound and absorbed as CBD when vaporized.
Additionally, besides glycerin and CBD extracts, other substances like flavors are also added to CBD liquids. It may be a matter of taste or even an ethical question whether the desired product might even need to be vegetarian or vegan.
Additional Detail Questions
Cannabidiol is one of the cannabinoids from the hemp plant that can develop a high medical effect. It doesn’t produce intoxicating effects and is therefore legal within the EU. Some EU countries may still issue prohibitions within their borders or regulate production and distribution with requirements. In German-speaking areas, there are no prohibitions for consumers, but in Austria CBD is considered a dietary supplement, which may only be manufactured and distributed through trade after a complex approval process. In CBD liquids, the cannabidiol is not a dietary supplement or medical active ingredient, but an aroma. This aroma rounds out the taste and enjoyment experience when vaporizing. A CBD liquid is therefore in no case to be considered a medical product – it also shouldn’t contain other aromas then. However, it is an enjoyment experience that many keep reordering.
Those who find their CBD liquids relaxing and want to vaporize a lot of it should choose a CBD liquid without nicotine and consume a nicotine liquid in another e-cigarette for nicotine addiction. Especially people who are still inexperienced with using an e-cigarette underestimate nicotine. Because it’s so pleasant, they vape a lot and expose themselves to a nicotine overdose that can be really very unpleasant. Anyone wanting to use a CBD liquid should therefore choose one without nicotine to be able to vaporize it at will.
THC Liquids?
Finally, the answer to the question of whether there will soon be THC-containing liquids too. These already exist and with legalization, they will certainly be produced and distributed in retail while complying with all guidelines. With legalization, consumers can consume cannabinoids much more pleasantly and healthily.
